If Tom Brady is living proof, then Sidney Crosby is in good hands.
Brady, the New England Patriots’ quarterback, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Tuesday that he indirectly recommended Alex Guerrero, his Utah-based physical therapist, to the Penguins’ ailing captain. And that he did so with full confidence.
“It was through a mutual friend of mine who knows him,” Brady said, referring to Crosby.
Guerrero helped Brady recover from knee surgery three years ago, with those two often engaging in four sessions a day.
“He’s worked on me for a long time, worked on a lot of guys,” Brady said. “I’ve put a lot of trust in him, and he does a great job. Without him, I don’t think I’d be sitting here.”
Brady, speaking on Super Bowl Media Day inside Lucas Oil Stadium, was reflecting on his bounce-back 2009 season.
It’s believed that Brady and Crosby, who have never met, connected when Crosby sought advice from their mutual acquaintance.
Neither the Penguins nor Crosby have specified what type of treatment — if any — he received from Guerrero. The only word from the team was that Crosby visited Guerrero last week.
